After her father killed her mother and committed suicide in prison, Theophania
Boggart and, shortly after, her grandfather move to San Francisco. Once
there, Theo opens up her own natural body goods shop with Nicole, a
girl she meets there. Things go great until Theo sees a man pushed out
of a window. Soon after, her partner is found dead in a compost pile.
With the subtle aid of her grandfather and the police, Theo starts to
look into what really happened to her business partner. Dark secrets
from her friends' pasts come to light including something to do with the
illegal trade of Rhino Horns, but how does one narrow down the suspects
when they all seem guilty? Will Theo solve the case before she becomes
the killer's next victim?
Narrator,
Liz Pearce does a great job of distinguishing the different accents and
voices of the characters in Cox's book. Her lively narrative style
keeps pace with the author's mix of action, mystery, and dialogue. The plot is well developed, engaging, suspenseful, and intriguing. Together, the two are the perfect complement to each other. Fans of mystery, English accents, and humor will enjoy listening to this book.
5 stars, ADULT
